No Global Entry Appointments Available? What to Do After Conditional Approval

If your Global Entry application is conditionally approved but every appointment near you looks unavailable, you are not alone. This is one of the most common problems travelers face after the application stage. CBP’s own help guidance says some enrollment locations may not have available appointments due to high application volume, and conditionally approved applicants may select any Enrollment Center with available dates.

This guide explains what to do when there are no Global Entry appointments available, how to think about alternate locations, when Enrollment on Arrival may help, and how Appointment Hopper fits into the process. Appointment Hopper is a private appointment-alert service. We are not affiliated with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Department of Homeland Security, or the Trusted Traveler Programs system.

Why Global Entry appointment availability changes so often

Global Entry demand is high because the program can make international arrivals into the United States smoother for approved travelers. After conditional approval, applicants usually need an interview to complete enrollment. That final interview step creates pressure on appointment calendars, especially at busy airports and metro-area enrollment centers.

Appointment availability is not static. New slots can appear when enrollment centers open more capacity, when another traveler cancels, when staffing changes, or when a location updates its calendar. A location that shows nothing today may show a slot later. A slot that appears now may disappear quickly if another applicant books it first.

Step 1: Check the official TTP scheduler first

The official source for scheduling is your Trusted Traveler Programs account. After conditional approval, log in and follow the scheduling instructions shown in your dashboard. Do not rely only on third-party screenshots or old blog posts, because enrollment locations and rules can change.

CBP’s help article on scheduling an interview says applicants must complete enrollment within 730 days of conditional approval, and that failing to schedule and complete the interview can result in cancellation of the application with no refund. That deadline makes appointment planning more than a convenience issue. It is part of completing your application.

Step 2: Search beyond your closest enrollment center

Many applicants check only the nearest airport or enrollment center, see no appointments, and stop. CBP says you may select any Enrollment Center with available dates. That means it can be worth checking centers near upcoming trips, family visits, work travel, or airport connections.

  • Check locations near airports you already plan to use.
  • Look at cities within realistic driving distance.
  • Consider appointment times before or after a planned trip.
  • Compare weekday and weekend availability if a location offers both.
  • Keep your document checklist ready so you can book confidently when a slot appears.

The best location is not always the closest one. It is the one you can attend reliably with the required documents before your conditional approval window expires.

Step 3: Consider Enrollment on Arrival if you have international travel planned

CBP’s Enrollment on Arrival program allows conditionally approved Global Entry applicants to complete the interview when arriving into the United States from an international trip at participating airports, including some preclearance locations. CBP says this can remove the need to schedule a separate enrollment-center interview, subject to availability.

Enrollment on Arrival is not perfect for every traveler. You must already be conditionally approved, arrive through a participating location, and have time to complete the interview during operating hours. It can also depend on daily demand. Still, if you already have an international trip coming up, it is one of the most practical alternatives to waiting for a traditional appointment.

Step 4: Know what “no appointments” really means

When the scheduler shows no appointments at a location, it does not always mean that location will be unavailable for months. It often means there is no bookable slot at the exact moment you checked. Appointment calendars can shift throughout the day and across the week. That is why many applicants keep checking repeatedly after conditional approval.

The challenge is that manual checking takes time. People miss openings because they are at work, asleep, traveling, or not logged in when a cancellation appears. That is where appointment-alert tools can be useful, as long as you understand what they can and cannot do.

How Appointment Hopper helps

Appointment Hopper helps conditionally approved travelers monitor appointment availability and get alerts when relevant openings appear. We do not control CBP calendars, reserve appointments, approve applications, guarantee a slot, or book on your behalf. You still schedule through the official TTP system.

The value is speed and awareness. If an appointment opens at a location you care about, an alert can help you react faster than occasional manual checking. For travelers with limited availability, that can make the difference between seeing an opening and missing it.
