Global Entry Conditional Approval: Your Interview Options Explained
Conditional approval is an important step in a Global Entry application, but it is not the same as membership approval. If your account now invites you to complete an interview, the next decision is how to fit that interview into your travel plans.
What Global Entry does
Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection program for expedited clearance of preapproved, low-risk travelers arriving in the United States. Applicants submit information through the official Trusted Traveler Programs system and undergo government review. The application fee is $120 and is nonrefundable; qualifying applicants under 18 can receive a fee exemption when a parent or legal guardian is a member of, or applying for, Global Entry, NEXUS or SENTRI. See CBP’s application guidance for details.
Option 1: Book an enrollment-center interview
After conditional approval, use your official TTP account to find an interview location and appointment. A scheduled interview can suit someone who wants to complete enrollment separately from an international trip. Check the location, date and instructions carefully before arranging transportation or time off.
Plan around appointments you can realistically attend. A distant opening is less useful if reaching it requires an expensive trip. Keep the confirmation details and follow the document checklist supplied for your appointment.
Option 2: Consider Enrollment on Arrival
CBP’s Enrollment on Arrival program lets conditionally approved applicants complete an interview during eligible international arrivals at participating locations, including designated preclearance sites. It removes the need for a separate enrollment-center appointment.
Bring your valid passport or passports, evidence of residency and, if applicable, your permanent resident card. CBP does not require residency evidence from minors for this process. Check the official location list and opening hours before relying on this option.
Can I use a domestic flight for Enrollment on Arrival?
No. CBP’s Global Entry FAQ distinguishes eligible international arrivals from domestic arrivals, departures and connections. Having a domestic connection at an airport offering the program does not by itself make you eligible.
Where Appointment Hopper fits
If a scheduled interview works best for you, Appointment Hopper’s Global Entry appointment alerts offer an optional way to monitor availability. An alert does not reserve a slot or change your government application status. You make the booking yourself through the official TTP website.
You can also check the government scheduler yourself without buying an alert service. Choose your interview route first, then decide whether monitoring would help with your schedule.

Appointment Hopper is a private appointment-alert service, not affiliated with CBP, DHS, CBSA or any government agency. Appointment availability, booking and approval are not guaranteed.
